Instructors

The IBBCV was founded by James and Virginia Hamrick, a husband/wife teaching team. The Hamricks are students of the world-renowned International Grandmaster Kwon, Jae-Hwa. The Hamricks began their taekwon-do training with Master Kwon in 1984 while living in New York City.
They both hold the rank of 4th degree black belt and have been teaching Tae Kwon-Do part-time since 1987, full-time since 1992.
The Hamricks both hold college degrees and worked for many years as business professionals before becoming full-time Taekwon-Do teachers.
They selected the Charlottesville area for its many fine attributes, and moved here in 1991 to open the IBBCV and raise their two young daughters.
The Hamricks continue to train in taekwon-do. They are advisors to the current school leader, John J. Oliver, and they conduct examinations for students' belt promotions at the IBBCV as well as offer special seminars.

Students
Students of the IBBCV include men, women and children.
Students come from all walks of life, with diverse ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds. The international flavor of the school is reflected in its name.
The prevailing spirit in the IBBCV is one of acceptance, support and encouragement of all fellow students. There is a strong family element in the school as well. Many families have two or more members of the same nuclear or extended family enrolled.
